Science Outreach
Many faculty members at Baylor University partner with local schools, after school programs, the Mayborn Museum, Education Service Center Region 12, and education industry partners to conduct research on education, give professional development workshops for teachers, develop curriculum for STEM youth summer camps, and provide other educational activities for our community.

The BRIC has hosted a variety of summer STEM camps with ESC Region 12 for local youth and Boys & Girls Clubs members on topics such as microgravity, aquatic science, and supercomputers.
Our educational research partnerships with local schools, ESC Region 12, and Huckabee has led to cutting-edge research on student engagement with built learning environments and best practices for teacher professional development to support classroom flexible learning environments.
Located in the second floor of the BRIC, Learning Experience Laboratories (LEx Labs) tests the next-generation of innovative classrooms and laboratories in a nearly 6,000 square foot educational research facility. An innovative partnership among Huckabee, ECS Region 12, and Baylor supports training and research in STEM education.
Many Baylor researchers engage in science outreach activities for youth and teachers at the BRIC. For example, Dr. Elyssia Gallagher, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, provided a teacher-training workshop for local high school chemistry teachers with partner ESC Region 12 in order to help teachers develop effective classroom activities to teach higher-level Chemistry concepts.
