Discovery Park Project Vaults Forward with Generous Gift
Civic-Minded Business Leaders Donate Property
October 23, 2009, the Clifton Robinson family, and property co-owner, H. Bland Cromwell, announce the donation of the former General Tire facility and site to Baylor. Situated just north of the Baylor campus and east of busy Interstate-35, the sprawling, 330,000 square-foot facility and surrounding 20+ acres are an ideal home for the BRIC. Funding for the renovation of the General Tire building was granted through state appropriation and Baylor commitment.
The BRIC was established to provide graduate research space for Baylor's School of Engineering and Computer Science and select Baylor interdisciplinary research centers and institutes. It also was designed to provide space for anchor industry partners already located in or newly recruited to McLennan County and space for joint research symposia and educational meetings.
